Kings Play-In MUST-WIN in OKC

The Sacramento Kings are 22-40, 13th place in the NBA western conference. That is 3.5 games behind the 10th place New Orleans Pelicans, and the final western conference playoff Play-In tournament berth. Sacramento face what is essentially a MUST-WIN game tonight on the road against the 19-41 Oklahoma City Thunder.

Versus OKC This Season

The Kings are 2-1 in the season series against the Thunder, heading into the 4th and final regular season meeting. I found a few interesting stats on the previous three matchups between the two teams via StatMuse.

From 3PT range, Sacramento is shooting 38.4% against OKC, compared to 34.4% (14th in the NBA) on the season. Sharing is … scoring. Sacramento is averaging 25 assists per game against OKC, compared to 23.4 APG on the season. It will be fun to see how this NEW LOOK Sacramento Kings squad will do against the Thunder.

Without De’Aaron Fox, the Kings won their previous meeting with OKC on February 5th, 113-103. Sacramento ‘won’ or tied every quarter of that game. Harrison Barnes scored 24 points and added in 9 rebounds. Moe Harkless also notched a double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Richaun Holmes Likely OUT

Richaun Holmes is likely out against the Thunder, due to a sore back. OKC will be missing 6 players, Sacramento Kings insider James Ham lists them all below.

Odds Are …

Sacramento are 4.5 point (-4.5) favorites tonight against OKC.

Sacramento is 2-4 since the ‘blockbuster’ trade Sabonis/Haliburton trade with the Indiana Pacers. As this team gets more time together, they have become better and more fun to watch. Tonight is a MUST-WIN, for the Kings Play-In hopes, in my opinion.

My Predictions

I outlined ALL of my predictions for the Sacramento Kings final 22 games. I will stick by my original prediction, which means I think the Kings will come out with a WIN in OKC!
