The 2021-22 NBA season is just about 29 games old and the championship competitors, playoff hopefuls, and rebuilding teams are starting to sort themselves out. This is the time of the season when teams are figuring out whether they are buyers, sellers or will stay put roster-wise before the February 15th NBA trade deadline.
Before the trade deadline, there is the rapidly approaching and important NBA trade-related date of December 15th.
A free agent who signs a standard NBA player contract (or a player who signs, or is converted to, a standard NBA player contract while under a Two-Way Contract) cannot be traded for three months following the date the contract is signed or until December 15 of the Salary Cap Year in which the contract is signed, whichever is later.

What That Means for the Sacramento Kings
For the Sacramento Kings, that means they are now able to trade free agents signed this offseason – Richaun Holmes, Moe Harkless, Alex Len, and Terence Davis.

Trade Winds Swirling
There have been many big trade rumors, both new and old. The ongoing saga of Ben Simmons, the recent intel about the Pacers looking to move Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert, and Myles Turner, constant chatter around Kings sharpshooter Buddy Hield, along with many other rumors.
Regardless of how the Kings are doing, the NBA trade deadline can be a fun time for ANY NBA fan. If your team is in contention there is always hope to add that ‘last piece’ for the playoff or championship run! For the bottom dwellers, there is always the excitement of a franchise-changing trade.
There usually are not many trades made during the first 30 games of the 82 game NBA regular season. Teams are still seeing how players fit together, how realistic is it to reach their original goals for the season, and sometimes what someone’s dad said on Twitter. Regardless of what your team is doing or not doing, be on the lookout for more moves as the NBA season progresses and free agents signed this offseason can be moved on Wednesday, December 15th.
