New Radio Voice Joins SacTown AM Airwaves

The Sacramento sports radio market is adding a new voice to the airwaves. No, no, do not worry Sacramento Kings fans, ‘G-Man’ Gary Gerould is not going anywhere as the radio voice of the Sacramento Kings. The new voice coming to Sacramento afternoon radio is Nick Cattles. Appropriate last name for a sports radio voice in SacTown.

Starting December 13th, Cattles will take over as KHTK 1140 AM radio station program director, and will slide behind the microphone to host the 3 PM – 6 PM, Monday – Friday program slot. Cattles will be taking over for ‘man-of-many-radio-hats Jason Ross’, who will continue his roles with Sacramento State Hornet football and Sacramento Kings hoops.

For the last three years, Cattles has worked at ESPN 94.1 FM in Virginia Beach, VA. Does that city ring a cowbell, Kings fans? This addition to the infamous Virginia Beach and Sacramento Kings storyline is a bit less infamous than previous SacTown/VA ‘missed connections’

On a more optimistic note, a statement from Barrett Sports Media,

“The Sports Programming team at Bonneville International has had our eye on Nick for a while and we couldn’t be more excited that he will be joining our team in Sacramento to lead KHTK,” Chad Rufer, Group Director of Programming for Bonneville Sacramento said in a press release.

In the last couple of years, there has been a lot of shuffling in the afternoon slot at KHTK 1140AM. From my not too deep dive, it seems like Cattles is well respected in sports radio, and will bring some fresh perspective to the Sacramento (Kings) fanbase.

Welcome to SacTown, Nick!

Go Kings!

33 years old - I have been in sports media since 2011. Around 1997, I became a HUGE Sacramento Kings fan ... MJ retired, and I received a Sacramento Kings Kids Club sign-up sheet in the mail... and I've never looked back! GO KINGS!
